What is a Rainbow Pledge

FACTS ABOUT THE RAINBOW PLEDGE PROGRAM

  • The Rainbow Pledge Program is a service and social organization for girls between the ages of 8-11 who pledge themselves to a life of Love and Service. The program is affiliated with the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and the Masonic Family.
This program is designed for the Pledge Girls to develop friendships, service to others and build confidence. Service to the community and those in need is an integral part of the Rainbow Pledge Program.
  • Pledge Groups meet at least once a month. The Pledge meetings are usually held before the Rainbow Girls meetings. The Pledge Girls have a fun activity each month and participate in Service projects during the year. Also, Rainbow Girls include the Pledges in some of their activities.
  • The Pledge Group is under the direction of the Pledge Mother (an older girl from the local Rainbow Assembly) and Pledge Advisor (adult supervisor). The Pledge Sister is the president of the group (usually age 10).
  • The Pledges have a short open meeting which will last about 20 minutes. During the meeting, they report on activities and decide on their next fun and service projects (which builds confidence, public speaking and leadership skills). The meetings are open to Pledge members families, friends, and of course Rainbow Girls. They participate in crafts, games, and refreshments. Parents are encouraged to stay for the meetings.
  • We want to assure you that Rainbow Pledge is not a religion, but, the program does require the belief in the existence of a Supreme Being and encourages each Pledge to be active in the church of her choice.
  • There is a simple dress code where short dresses or a skirt and blouse of any light color should be worn to the meetings.
  • There are no membership fees or dues. However, parents may be asked to bring refreshments, help at the meetings or chaperone.
